The Thin One From the Portrait
As most of you reading may already know, The Thin One From the Portrait is the name of the attached image, the first of many supposed sightings and images of some type of malicious entity. This first image is interesting because any un-altered copies/originals have yet to be found, nor has anyone in the photo been identified, fueling the belief of this entity.
The image itself was first posted on 'www.eldersfolkloreandstories.com' at the dawn of German internet access, the user which posted it claimed the image was their father's, and he's known about it since they were little. His father would describe the creature as tall, tree-like, and hard to see, like if you lost your glasses
Impact of The Thin One in the internet age
In the early ages of internet horror stories, you couldn't go anywhere without hearing about Der Dunne or how he's gonna get you and you're family. While it was annoying, it probably kept a bunch of scared kids off sites they shouldn't have been on. It was also interesting seeing fanart of something that no one actually knew what it looked like, so people just started making shit up, like that it was pale and more humanoid, and wore a suit for some reason (who's his tailor?).
Some would even make up their own folklore and stories of their encounters with The Thin One
